Traveling-wave tubes for ground-based and airborne radar

FSUE "RPE "TORIY" has developed powerful pulsed TWT for the use in amplifier chains with output power of 300 kW and max. anode voltage of 50 kV. The tubes use coupled-cavity (CC) slow-wave structures, while focusing of electron flow is made by a periodic magnetic focusing structure (PMFS) combined with CC. Dual-mode TWTs are used in airborne radar transmitters allowing, while maintaining high average power, performing the search and destruction of targets in "air-to-air" and "air-to-ground' modes. These tubes use low-voltage gridless control of electron flow and provide a band of amplified frequencies up to 10% with a high efficiency (17-20%).
